The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Asmara together with the GTZ - Crystal Project in Germany was very happy to support the Asmara Technical School in its further development. The cooperation between the German Embassy and the GTZ-Project was initiated by the World University Service (WUS) - German Committée.

The Asmara Technical School always held strong ties to Germany and was regulary strongly supported and sponsored by various German institutions, companies and initiatives like Volkswagen, DGB (German Labour Union) and the Government of Lower Saxony.

This time, thanks to the generous support of the GTZ - Crystal Project the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany was able to hand over 3 boxes of books about modern teaching and learning in the different fields and majors of the Asmara Technical School like "Metal Work", "Automotive Trade" and "Electrical Engineering".

The delivery also includes 20 CD-ROMs with 278 full text reports and essays (~ 15.000 pages) about the latest technical developments.

The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany is very happy to revive the former intensive and fruitful cooperation inbetween the Asmara Technical School and the Federal Republic of Germany from the past and is looking forward to accompany and support further developments in this important relation to improve the situation for the students and teachers at the Asmara Technical School.

The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Asmara together with its Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany was again able to support and sponsor various football projects within the Eritrean sport activities.

Due to the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2006 in Germany the German Foreign Ministry released a project to support football projects and initiatives worldwide by donating special produced footballs.

Therefore the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Asmara was able to provide the following Eritrean football projects with a number of fine leather footballs to support and implement stronger sport activities and fair play during their competitions:

1. Asmara University: 20 footballs
2. Eritrean National Sports Commission: 15 footballs
3. Footballteam of the Eritro-German Centre: 5 footballs
4. Tesfa Youthleague Footballproject: 45 footballs
5. Eritrean National Deaf Association: 10 footballs

The Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany is very happy to have once again extended, even with small steps, these fruitful cooperations and is looking forward to accompany and support further developments of sport activities in the State of Eritrea.
